A professional, site-specific design you can plant yourself or hand to an installer of your choice — scaled to your garden, from a single bed to a whole property.

Priced by the area being designed, not the size of your lot. Fees start at these amounts and rise with complexity, such as rain gardens and stormwater, invasive plant management, steep slopes, or phased planting. For a smaller area, a consultation with a Recommended Species List is often the better starting point. You'll get a written quote after your consultation, before anything is signed or invoiced.

Design + Installation Oversight

I'm no longer taking on new installation work myself. If you'd rather not plant your design on your own, I can point you toward installers in the area and work with whoever you choose, to help what goes in the ground match the plan and be planted correctly: roots untangled, plants set at the right depth.

Post-Planting
Check-Ins

Check-ins during the critical first 8 weeks after planting, to see how things are establishing and catch problems early. Open to design clients and to newly planted native gardens installed by someone else. You don't need to be home for visits, though walking the garden together makes it easier to point out weeds.

  • → 4 check-in visits over the first 8 weeks after planting
  • → Weeds and plants to remove, flagged in the ground
  • → Watering guidance for your season, soil, and sun, and drought checks for signs of too much or too little water
  • → A written note or message after each visit
  • → Early problem spotting and recommendations
  • → Final assessment with ongoing care recommendations

Continuing Consultations

A native garden keeps changing. Past clients can bring me back to answer questions, troubleshoot, and suggest what to add where things have gone bare or aren't working out.

I'm not scheduling new work right now, including continuing consultations.

$65/hour
For questions that come up as your garden grows: plant ID, troubleshooting, seasonal care, and advice on what to add or change.

Mid-Summer Check-In
From $130
A continuing consultation timed for mid-summer, when the garden is at full growth and bare spots or struggling plants are easy to see. I walk it with you and suggest a few additions, ready for fall planting.
  • Most useful in Year 2 (creep) and Year 3 (leap)
  • Notes and species suggestions to help fill any potential gaps, written as we walk
  • Progress photos taken at the visit
  • A good time to talk about designing a new area (design work is quoted separately)
  • Billed as a continuing consultation with a two-hour minimum: $130, or $160 on-site 18–25 miles away

Due to severe allergies, I may not be able to enter areas where these plants are present, which can limit what I can walk, measure, and assess there during a consultation or site assessment.
